2011 Club Races

Gar Rowsome Memorial Trophy Race (Club race #1)- June 4

The winner will be presented with the GAR ROWSOME MEMORIAL TROPHY courtesy of Betty Rowsome and what nicer way to remember our good friend and sailor Gar. Many thanks to Betty, Gord and Connie.

Sail Past – Saturday August 6th

The Sail Past is a traditional event, held to salute the esteemed commodore. So…decorate your boat and crew, wear your kilt and wave your sporran. Remember the commodore serves FREE grog afterwards. Don’t miss it …it doesn’t happen often.

Race #2 – June 18 – RBC Open Regatta

Open to non-club boats this is a very popular race.

Poker Run – June 25

Race #3 – July 9

Club race around the flags off our home port.

Race #4 – August 13

Another normal race around the flags off our home port.

Race #5 – Schooner Nancy August 27

Club race around the flags off our home port.

Race #6 – September 17

Specialty Races

Lady Skippers Race – August 6 (Skippers meeting T.B.A.)
Ladies skip and a few un-related males do the grunt work.

Long Distance Race – September 3 (10 a.m. Skippers meeting)
11pm start
The course will be a triangle from Thornbury, the south range mark, and return to Meaford, approx 15 NM

Mens Singlehanded Race – September 18 (10 a.m. Skippers meeting)
Yes skip, you get to yell at yourself.

Single Class dinghy race (Dinghy Dunkin’)
Mayhem. Possibly a Sunday in August

Claire Norris Memorial - Saturday Sept 10
This Tri-club event will be hosted by Thornbury. This is a team race, the first five boats from each club counting toward their team score.
